Top things to do in Egypt

A few of the thousand top things to do and see in Egypt – Quelques unes des top activités à faire et voir en Egypte

Same problem than in Iran… Two weeks were definitely not enough to discover and understand what Egypt is made with and how it works. But still, thanks to my friend Moheb, I’ve been able to go out of the touristic roads (not all of them, we passed by El gouna and Hurgada for 2 days of scuba diving anyway and trust me the red sea is absolutely gorgeous) and feel what the real egyptian society looks like.

I would say that Egypt is mainly made of deserts except for the Nile valley which is incredibly green. Both christians and muslims live together and respect each other even if everyone likes to remind you what is his religion and like to know on which side you stand (it doesn’t really matter where you stand anyway but they just like to know, even 4 years old like to ask), and not having a religion is a bit of a difficult concept. You do find a lot of churches and mosques around Egypt though. And as a finish, I used to call Cairo the “teenager’s bedroom” when I was there as it seems to be a huge mess when you don’t know it well enough. But when you start to understand how it works, you discover that the mess is actually organized and everyone knows what to do, when to do it and most of all, how to do it. Therefore, you can find next to each other, the richest area, the industrial one, garbage town, the slums, the cemetery that is used as a “residential” area and so on…
